Google Cloud platform assessment for a global power industry company
What was the challenge?
The customer provides products and technologies to the global power industry and leverages Google’s cloud platform for the development and production of its key services. The cloud environment must meet the needs of growing business from the perspectives of scalability, security and usability. The customer needed a holistic assessment of the current state of its cloud environment to better meet the challenges of the future.
Our solution
Codento conducted an assessment of the cloud platform and architecture based on the recommendations and best practices of the Google Cloud Architecture Framework (Google Cloud Architecture Framework, (GCAF). In addition, the Landing Zone built by the customer was assessed so that projects and workloads could be delivered according to GCAF principles.
Codento’s team held several workshops with the client’s infrastructure team on each pillar of GCAF (System Design, Operational Excellence, Security, Privacy and Compliance, Reliability, Performance and Cost Optimization) and independently assessed the cloud environment and its documentation. More than 400 review items were analyzed about the customer’s environment as a whole. Based on Codento’s findings and observations, the customer was presented with recommendations prioritized and broken down into the categories of the architecture framework. Although the cloud environment was overall in good condition, Codento’s experts identified about 5-10 action points to improve per GCAF category.

What were the results?
The assessment resulted in an extensive and detailed document that allows the customer to validate the suitability and accordance of the choices made to cloud architecture best practices. Based on Codento’s recommendations, the customer will be able to further improve and enhance the use of Google cloud platform and increase maturity levels in the areas most relevant in the future.
