SwanIT to enhance its customer experience with sustainable SaaS portal MyEnvironment by utilizing Codento’s services and Google Cloud
What was the challenge?
SwanIT provides IT infrastructure and maintenance solutions (DaaS (Device as a service), NaaS (Networks as a service)) in the industry for medium and large sized companies. All their services and solutions are designed with sustainability and quality at the center stage. They guarantee a reliable production and office environment with devices that have been evaluated for the sustainability of the device itself, its manufacturer and its total lifecycle.
SwanIT is growing at a rapid pace and digital services are designed to support growth and differentiate it from its competitors. SwanIT required a differentiated SaaS portal through which the end-customer can see and operate the services and see the environmental impact. There were limited skills of their own for developing a new service. Cloud platform and technology choices must support and promote SwanIT’s values, for which sustainability is central.
A minimum viable product (MVP) implementation of the service was needed with a 2 month development cycle. The implementation had to be scalable and support further development.
Our solution
MyEnvironment portal functionality included authentication, selected views, data models and database and setup for Google Cloud environment. We also developed the architectural plan and user experience. SwanIT selected Google Cloud based on Codento’s recommendation.
We used Terraform on Google Cloud for infrastructure automation and Identity Platform for authentication. Other key components of Google Cloud were Cloud Storage, PubSub, Cloud Functions, Cloud SQL and Cloud Monitoring.
User interface design was based on React and utilized the App Engine standard with UI and API services. Cloud Build was used for deployment.

Codento was selected due to extensive cloud application development experience and Google Cloud focus.
What were the results?
The MPV portal was delivered in the proposed time-schedule, scope and budget. The MVP will be used with first customers to obtain feedback for the future development.
