From Manual to Automated: Transforming Data-Heavy Workflows with Google Cloud’s Automation Capabilities for Caverion Finland
What was the challenge?
Caverion makes built environments smart and sustainable enabling performance and people’s well-being. Caverion’s offering covers the entire life cycle of buildings, infrastructure or industrial sites and processes, from planning and construction to projects, technical and industrial maintenance, property management and consulting services.
Caverion Finland has thousands of customer locations where to provide their services. Caverion had challenges regarding repetitive manual work of their data processing and data quality requirements. These manual tasks take a significant amount of time and create a process bottleneck.
Our solution
The provided solution functionality included authentication, data import, data processing and export views and setup for the Google Cloud environment. We also developed the architectural plan and user experience. Caverion selected Google Cloud Platform based on Codento’s recommendation.
BigQuery was used for data processing, Workflows for orchestration and Cloud Identity for authentication. Other key components of Google Cloud were Cloud Storage, Event Arc, Cloud Functions, Firestore and Cloud Monitoring and Logging. The implementation is serverless and fully event based. The user interface design was based on React and Firebase.

What were the results?
The solution was delivered within the proposed schedule, scope and budget. It is used internally to significantly speed up Caverion’s data analysis tasks and reduce the amount of work to a tenth of what it was before.
