Think global, act local – Codento helps ensure PHM Group’s secure growth

Codento’s help in reviewing the security of Google Cloud environments and cloud billing management enables the international growth of PHM Group, the European property services group.

PHM Group’s history dates back to the turn of the 80s and 90s and two small, local property services companies. Over the past 30 years, it has grown into a fast-growing European provider of versatile property services, with more than 13,000 professionals serving housing companies in Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Germany, and Switzerland.

Despite its rapid expansion, PHM Group has strived to maintain its entrepreneurial spirit and local focus. The group’s shared tools serve local companies and help independent property management companies in their daily business.

One example of such tool is the PHM Digital, serving more than 30,000 PHM Group customers and partners. The PHM Digital provides a channel for opening and managing maintenance requests and offers a view of customer-specific reports. The massive user base and critical role of the extranet tool in the daily operations of PHM Group’s local companies make the application’s reliability, privacy, and security essential to the entire corporation’s business.

License Management and Google Cloud Security Assessment

PHM Group contacted Codento when they were looking for a better and more scalable solution to manage the company’s Google cloud spend instead of CIO’s credit card bills.

PHM Group’s Google Cloud billing was transferred to Codento for reselling, which made everyday life easier and enabled PHM Group personnel to focus on more strategic tasks.

At the same time, Codento proposed to PHM Group a technical security audit of PHM Group’s Google Cloud-based PHM Digital. The project included the following areas:

  • Analysis and unification of Google Cloud Identity and Access Management (IAM) according to Google Cloud best practices (connecting Entra ID as an IdP to Google Cloud Identity), giving PHM Group full control and visibility to manage Google Cloud resources centrally.
  • Assessment of the current state of information security and recommendations for improving the technical implementation using the Cloud Security Posture Review (CSPR)  and the CSPR Toolkit
  • Review of the Google Cloud Identity configuration and identification of potential problem areas
  • Assessment of group and folder structures and recommendations for their development in accordance with Google Cloud best practices

Codento’s Google Cloud expertise made an impression

Google’s local team recommended Codento as a trusted partner for PHM Group. Codento’s strong expertise in Google Cloud services security, management, and optimization played a crucial role in conducting a comprehensive technical review of the extranet application and providing recommendations.

Efficiency and security for an internationalizing business’s key application

With Codento’s help, PHM Group has been able to optimize its cloud capacity usage and reduce administrative burden as cloud billing management smoothly transitioned to Codento, freeing up resources for more strategic tasks. The technical review of the PHM Digital application improved the solution’s security and functionality, which was essential due to the large user base and the application’s business-critical nature. Ongoing collaboration with Codento has helped PHM Group focus on its core business and improve the quality of services offered to group companies.

“Codento’s support and expertise ensure that the Google Cloud technologies we use are secure and follow best practices. With this collaboration, we can now and in the future respond to rapidly changing business needs and remain competitive in international markets,” concludes Kari Liikanen, Head of Infrastructure and Operations of PHM Group.
